Ingredients

For 1 serving

  • All-purpose flour22 g
  • Unsweetened cocoa powder4 g
  • Fresh orange juice30 ml
  • Orange zest1 g
  • Brown sugar9 g
  • Sunflower oil5 g
  • Baking powder1 g

Contains: gluten,

In season: December – April

Method

  1. Preheat a conventional oven to 175 °C and line a loaf tin with baking paper. The quantities are for one slice: multiply them by the number of slices in the loaf.
  2. Wash the orange, grate the orange zest and squeeze it for the measured juice.
  3. In a bowl mix the plain flour, cocoa powder, brown sugar and baking powder, breaking up any lumps of cocoa.
  4. Add the orange juice, orange zest and sunflower oil and whisk until the batter is smooth and lump-free.
  5. Pour into the tin, level and bake for 40 minutes, until the top is dry and cracked and a skewer in the centre comes out clean.
  6. Let it cool in the tin before turning it out and slicing: it crumbles while hot.
